Volunteer Application Process

We welcome you to join our team of exceptional volunteers who demonstrate Runnymede’s iCARE values — Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect and Excellence in their everyday interactions with staff, patients and their families.

 

To begin the application process, please take the time to complete all of the following:

• Download and complete the Volunteer Application Form, then email the completed form to volunteer@runnymedehc.ca
• Download and print two copies of the Reference Check Form. Have each form completed by one of your references
• Once your application has been reviewed, selected applicants will be contacted for an interview
• If selected, download and print the Pre-Placement Immunization Form and have it completed by a physician
• Placement in the volunteer program is contingent upon receiving the appropriate Background Check Clearance

Background Check Requirements

Applicants 18 Years of Age or Older

• All volunteer applicants over 18 years of age or older must submit a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).
• Vulnerable Sector Checks are administered through your local police station based on your jurisdiction and may be completed online

Youth Volunteers and Co-op Students Under 18

• All Youth & Co-op student Volunteer applicants (under 18years of age) must submit to a background check in advance of volunteer/unpaid Co-op placement. The background check required will be determined based on where the applicant resides
• Youth Volunteers (under 18years of age) who reside in the City of Toronto will undergo a Criminal Background Check facilitated through Runnymede Healthcare Centre as the Toronto Police Service does not administer VSC’s for youth applicants
• Youth Volunteers (under 18years of age) who reside outside of the City of Toronto will be subject to a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) based on their jurisdiction.  VSC applications may be completed online
