Runnymede Healthcare Centre is an public hospital (hospital #850) incorporated under the Public Hospital Act (PHA) of Ontario, 1990. Within the definitions of the PHA, Section 1, “hospital” means any institution, building or other premises or place that is established for the purposes for the treatment of patients and that is approved under this Act as a public hospital.

Runnymede is an innovative rehabilitation and complex continuing care hospital with a proven track record of success in providing the highest level of patient-centred care to those whose treatment needs cannot be met at home or in an acute care facility. Many of these same services are provided in large community hospitals as well as academic hospitals throughout Ontario.

Our interprofessional team works together to provide all required inpatient services, enhancing patients’ quality of life through comprehensive, patient-centred care. This highly skilled team includes physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, rehabilitation assistants, pharmacists, discharge coordinators, clinical nutritionists, respiratory therapists, social workers, and speech-language pathologists, each dedicated to addressing the specific needs of our patients.

Our physicians are managed by our Board of Directors, under provisions of the PHA, Ontario Regulation 965, Section 35 which requires every Hospital Board to establish a Medical Advisory Committee.
